A new role supporting Lincoln District’s leadership team behind the scenes

Organised, discreet and happiest when things actually get done?
Want to support local Scouting in a role that makes a difference right across the District, without needing to work with young people every week?
Lincoln Scouts is looking for a District Leadership Support Volunteer to work closely with our District Lead Volunteer, Lee, and the wider District Leadership Team. This is a brand new role, designed to give practical administrative support to the leadership of a busy and ambitious Scout District.
Lee is at his best working with people, developing ideas, solving problems and getting things moving. We’re looking for someone with complementary strengths: someone who enjoys organisation, administration and making sure the plans turn into action.
In many ways, we’re looking for a trusted sidekick.
What could you be doing?
The role will be shaped around you, but is likely to include:
- Managing and triaging a shared inbox
- Helping with day-to-day communications
- Organising meetings, agendas and invitations
- Attending meetings alongside the District Lead Volunteer
- Taking notes and producing clear minutes and actions
- Keeping track of actions, deadlines and follow-ups
- Supporting other members of the District Leadership Team with administration where appropriate
What’s involved?
This is a flexible role. Much of the administration can be done from home, alongside attending meetings where your support would be valuable.
You don’t need any previous Scouting experience. We’re looking for someone who is organised, dependable and confident with written communication and everyday digital systems. You’ll need to be comfortable handling confidential information and occasionally being present during sensitive or challenging conversations.
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room or want to lead from the front. You might simply be someone who gets real satisfaction from bringing order to things and helping other people work effectively.
Why volunteer?
By keeping the District’s leadership organised, you’ll help free up time and energy for the things that matter most: supporting our Groups and volunteers, and creating opportunities for young people across Lincoln to learn new skills, make friends and experience adventure.
Think you could be the organised sidekick our District Lead Volunteer needs? We’d love to hear from you.
