The Lincoln Cubs Archery Competition 2026 is here. Open exclusively to Cub Packs across the Lincoln District, this exciting team competition gives young archers the chance to test their skills, represent their pack, and compete for district honours.


Whether your Cubs are experienced archers or trying competitive archery for the first time, this event promises a fun, safe, and memorable day.

Event Details


  • Date: 26th September 2026
  • Location: Altham Terrace
  • Open to: Lincoln District Cub Packs only
  • Team Size: 6 Cubs per team
  • Entries Per Pack: Up to 2 teams
  • Entry Fee: £25 per team
  • Competition Format: Timed sessions throughout the day
  • Practice Opportunities: Have-a-go sessions available before the event
  • Competition Format

    Each Cub will shoot:

    • 5 ends of 3 arrows
    • 80cm target face
    • Distance: 10 metres

    Individual scores will be combined to create a team total.

  • How Entry Works

    Each Cub Pack may enter up to two teams.


    You do not need to confirm the names of participating Cubs when entering. Team members can be confirmed on the day of the competition.


    After entries close, teams will be allocated a one-hour shooting slot and full joining instructions will be sent out.


    Early entry is recommended to avoid disappointment and to allow time for practice sessions before the event.

    Entry Fee: £25 per team


    Once your entry is received, an invoice will be issued by the District Treasurer.


    If your team can no longer attend, refunds are available up until the Wednesday before the competition. Unfortunately, no refunds can be given for teams that do not attend on the day.

  • Safety First

    The competition is run by qualified volunteers with safety as the highest priority.


    • A safety briefing is provided before every session.
    • All equipment is supplied by the organising team.
    • First aid cover will be available throughout the event.
    • Range officials and scorers oversee all shooting activities.
    • Spectators and leaders will have designated viewing areas.

FAQs

  • Who can enter?

    The competition is open to Cub Packs within the Lincoln District only.

  • How many teams can a pack enter?

    Each Cub Pack may enter up to two teams, with six Cubs per team.

  • Do Cubs need previous archery experience?

    No. The competition is designed to be accessible for all Cubs, regardless of previous experience.

  • Do we need to submit the names of competitors when entering?

    No. You only need to reserve your team places. Names of competitors can be confirmed on the day.

  • How much does it cost?

    Entry is £25 per team.

  • What equipment do Cubs need to bring?

    Nothing. All bows, arrows, targets, and safety equipment will be provided.


    Personal archery equipment is not permitted during the competition.

  • Can Cubs use their own bow?

    No. To ensure fairness and safety, all competitors must use the equipment supplied by the organisers.

  • When will we know our shooting time?

    After the entry deadline, teams will be allocated a one-hour time slot and details will be sent to leaders.

  • What time should we arrive?

    Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your allocated shooting slot.

  • How is the competition scored?

    Each Cub shoots 15 arrows in total (5 ends of 3 arrows). Individual scores are added together to create the team score.


    The team with the highest total score wins the District Shield.

  • Are there prizes for individual archers?

    Yes. The top three individual scorers across the competition will receive medals.

  • Is there a safety briefing?

    Yes. All competitors must attend a mandatory range safety briefing before shooting begins.

  • Can leaders and parents watch?

    Yes. Spectators are welcome but must remain in designated spectator areas and avoid distracting competitors while shooting.

  • What happens if we need to cancel?

    Refunds are available until the Wednesday before the competition. Unfortunately, no refunds can be given for teams that do not attend on the day..
