Screambrooke Scare
Explorers - get ready for a Halloween themed immersive overnight adventure!
Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th October 2026 at Sudbrooke Park Scout Campsite.
Open to Explorer Scouts across Lincolnshire.
Dare to enter Screambrooke? The Lady of the Lake won't wait forever…
Dare to Discover the Truth…
Deep in the woods of Sudbrooke, something isn’t quite right.
Whispers echo through the trees.
A presence lingers by the lake.
And those who enter… don’t all leave with the same story.
Taking place on 23rd – 25th October 2026, Screambrooke invites you to step into the shadows of Sudbrooke Park for an unforgettable overnight experience. Beneath the trees and beside the lake, you’ll find yourself immersed in a world where not everything is as it seems…
Join us this October and uncover the mystery of The Lady of the Lake. As darkness falls, your team will navigate eerie woodland trails, where strange encounters and hidden clues await. For those brave enough, the scare maze offers a more intense experience – but the choice is yours…
Alongside the unfolding story, expect a night filled with atmosphere, adventure, and shared moments – from a costume competition, pumpkin carving, frightful crafts, and a ghostly campfire. We'll tease you with more to come as we get closer, but all will be mixed in with a programme of classic adventurous activity sessions.
Screambrooke runs across two nights, with groups attending one night only. Each night delivers the full experience, ensuring every Explorer gets the same unforgettable adventure.
The cost is £40 per young person and £10 per leader, per night. This includes all activities, camping, and an exclusive Screambrooke event badge. Catering will be provided, so leaders and young people can focus on the experience without needing to bring kitchen equipment.
Grab your torch, trust your team… and decide for yourself how far into the woods you’re willing to go.
Are you brave enough?

Location
Welfare & Safety
The welfare and safety of everyone attending Screambrooke is our priority. The event team will be active throughout the event and available should staff or leaders need assistance at any time.
A dedicated First Aid point, Safe Zone, and defibrillator will all be located at Sudbrooke Holme.
The Safe Zone is an area away from the immersive scare elements where participants can take a break, relax, and regroup if needed.
Please note: Fireworks, pyrotechnics, smoke effects, lighting effects, and other special effects may be used during this event.
Event Operations & Admin
Event Operations and event administration will operate separately to ensure the smooth and safe running of the event.
Operational areas are strictly for authorised event staff only. Leaders and participants should report to the designated help point if assistance is required.
An event emergency contact number will also be issued to group leaders closer to the event.
Immersive Experience
Actors and immersive elements will be present around site from the moment groups arrive, helping to create the atmosphere and storyline throughout the evening.
Official event staff and volunteers will always be identifiable by high-visibility jackets. Anyone not wearing event identification may potentially be part of the experience.
Group Responsibility
Leaders and volunteers remain responsible for the young people in their care throughout the event.
It is helpful for young people to know:
- Their group name
- Their leader’s name
- A contact mobile number for their group leader
This allows us to reunite people quickly if required.
Wristbands & Site Security
All attendees must wear their event wristband at all times. Event staff may ask to see wristbands during the evening - please cooperate and keep interactions friendly and respectful.
Wristbands help us identify who should, and more importantly who should not, be on site.
If a wristband is lost, please report to Event Operations or Sudbrooke Holme for a replacement.
Site Awareness
Screambrooke takes place across woodland areas with uneven terrain and multiple access points. Security measures will be in place throughout the event, however we ask everyone to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious or concerning to a member of the event team immediately.
Please avoid bringing valuables where possible and keep personal belongings secure and within sight.
A defibrillator is available at Sudbrooke Holme.
In The Event of an Emergency
Immediately inform a member of the event team
Follow all instructions given by staff and volunteers
Emergency services will normally be contacted by Event Operations unless delay would place someone in immediate danger.
Please help us keep Screambrooke safe, enjoyable, and respectful for everyone attending.
Arrival & Parking Information
Leaders can arrive on site from 4:00pm to set up ahead of their group.
Due to limited space, parking arrangements will be in place:
Car Park 2 – Designated drop-off and collection area (no parking for attendees)
Please note, due to limited on-site parking, each attending group will be issued with one leader parking permit for use within the designated leader parking area.
Participants should arrive during their allocated window:
Friday night groups: from 6:00pm
Saturday night groups: from 5:00pm
Each group will be given a specific drop-off slot within the first hour to help manage traffic safely and efficiently.
Drop-Off & Access
A clearly signposted drop-off system will be in operation. Drivers must remain with their vehicles and follow instructions from the event team.
There will be no parking on camping areas or activity spaces.
Accessibility
If you or a member of your group has any accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance so we can discuss suitable arrangements where possible.
Please be aware that Screambrooke takes place across woodland areas with uneven terrain, natural pathways, and low-light conditions.
What to Expect
There may be a short walk from the car park to your camping area, so please pack accordingly. We recommend bringing kit in fewer, larger bags where possible.
Arrival Times
Arrival periods can be busy as multiple groups access the site. Our team will be on hand to support, so please allow extra time and be patient while we get everyone safely on site.
Check-In Information
Check-in will be located by the entrance at Car Park 2, which also operates as the main drop-off area.
Groups must check in on arrival and before taking part in any activities.
Only the Group Leader needs to come to check-in, where they will:
- Confirm attendance
- Collect wristbands for all participants
- Receive any final event information
All young people must wear their wristbands to take part in the experience.
Important Information
Please arrive within your allocated drop-off window to help the process run smoothly
Activities & Programme
The Screambrooke programme runs throughout the evening, giving Explorers the freedom to move between different areas and experiences as the night unfolds.
Across the site, you’ll find a mix of immersive storytelling, themed zones, and adventurous activities – all designed to build atmosphere, and bring the woods and story to life after dark.
Expect a combination of:
Two immersive woodland trails
A dedicated scare maze for those feeling brave
A central campfire space continuing the spooky theme
Adventurous activities such as climbing, archery, and water-based elements
An indoor "safe area" to gather and regroup
Additional experiences and surprises still to be revealed
We’ll reveal more as the event gets closer… and not everything will be as it seems 👀
Activity Flow
Some of the more popular adventurous activities (such as archery, climbing, and water-based activities) may experience busy periods.
To ensure everyone gets a chance to take part:
- All groups will have the opportunity to access each area at least once during the evening
- If an activity is busy, Explorers are encouraged to explore other zones and return later
- Some activities may have light restrictions in place to keep queues moving and the experience enjoyable for all
The best approach?
Keep moving, explore everything… and don’t stay in one place too long.

- Camp size is kept to a minimum

The following facilities will be available on site:

Showers
Drinking water points
An accessible toilet located by the shop
Camping Expectations
To help everyone have a safe and enjoyable experience:
- Be respectful of other groups and their space
- Do not walk through other campsites
- Use bins provided and leave the site as you found it
- Report any issues or hazards to a member of the event team
Safety Information
- No open fires, BBQs, or personal cooking equipment are permitted due to the nature of the event
- Keep your camping area tidy and free from hazards
- Leaders should ensure appropriate supervision at all times
If you see anything that could pose a risk, please report it to a member of the team straight away.

Please ensure all participants take care when moving between areas.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the event fully catered?
Yes – the event will be centrally catered.
Leaders and Explorers do not need to bring kitchen equipment for the weekend.
How does the event work across the two nights?
Screambrooke runs across two nights, but groups will attend one night only.
The programme is the same on both nights, so each group will experience the full event regardless of which date they choose to attend.
Can Explorers attend without a leader?
No – Explorers must attend as part of a group with appropriate adult leadership in line with Scout ratios. This cannot be a passported event.
How scary is it?
Screambrooke is designed to be atmospheric and immersive rather than extreme.
There will be dark environments, suspenseful moments, and actors in role throughout the experience. Jump scares are mainly contained within the dedicated scare maze element, which Explorers can choose whether or not to take part in.
Leaders can also support young people in deciding what feels right for them on the night.
Do we need specialist equipment?
No specialist equipment is required for Screambrooke, however Explorers should come prepared for an overnight autumn camp in woodland conditions.
Young people will need:
- A tent
- Sleeping bag and roll mat
- Warm clothing suitable for cold evenings
- Sturdy footwear suitable for uneven woodland terrain
- Wash kit and towel
- Plate, bowl, mug, and cutlery in a plate bag
- A torch for campsite use only (not allowed within Screambrooke)
Please remember that temperatures can become very cold overnight in October. Extra layers, blankets, or a sleeping bag liner are strongly recommended to help keep warm.
Will there be sleeping indoors or outdoors?
This will be a camping-based experience, there is no provision for sleeping indoors.
Can adults attend even if they’re not bringing Explorers?
Yes – adults are very welcome to attend as part of the event team, even if they are not bringing a group.
All adults must hold a valid Scout DBS and meet the usual requirements for volunteering at Scout events.
Is this suitable for first-time campers?
This may not be the best first camp due to the immersive and night-time elements. Leaders should use their judgement based on the young person’s confidence.
